In an attempt to cut expenses, the international technology corporation Dell recently made the decision to fire 6000 workers worldwide as demand for its goods declined.
Dell announced it was laying off employees in order to save money. In addition to lowering employment, Dell disclosed in a document that it had reduced external hiring. According to a Reuters article, Dell employed approximately 120,000 people as of February 2, 2024, a decrease from the 1,26,000 people it employed at the time.
Dell claims in its petition that it is reducing employment because its computer sales have been down for the past almost two years. The company’s earnings decreased by 11% as a result of the lack of demand, according to the financial figures for the final three months of the year, which were released only last month. As a result of the decline in computer sales, the company is experiencing financial difficulties and is firing some of its staff.
According to the report, Dell anticipates higher revenue for the entire year from its client solutions segment, which includes PC sales. On Monday, this was declared. Nevertheless, this segment’s income decreased by 12% in the final three months of the year.
Although Dell issued a warning about impending challenges, it expects that in the fiscal year 2025, demand for its products would improve and prices will become more competitive.

Dell sent out a note to its remote employees letting them know that while they can keep working from home, they won’t be getting promoted. Notably, even before Covid arrived, Dell had a hybrid work culture. The rule has been in place for more than ten years. But the business is now enforcing stringent return-to-office (RTO) guidelines, which is a distinct change from its prior position.
Working as a “hybrid” or “remote” organisation, Dell advised its staff that they were required to report back to the office. Fully remote workers have many restrictions, whereas hybrid employees must work in an authorised office three days a week at the very least.
